Refines and continues building on the basic skills presented in the ninth and tenth grades. Its primary focus is a thematic survey of American literature. Through a variety of assessments, of which the portfolio plays a major role, the student analyzes and synthesizes the evolution of the American character and the American Dream. Student communication skills are further enhanced through the development of personal, analytical and creative writing. (Prereq: Successful completion of Comp/World Lit I and II)
