PRINCIPAL - Mr. Patrick Lee
It is an honor and a privilege for me to serve you as the Principal of St. John Bosco High School. I have enjoyed seeing many of you during the summer months and look forward to seeing the rest of you when the school year starts up again. Education is a hot political and social topic. With our president’s “No Child Left Behind” and Mr. Davis’s “intriguing” budget cuts affecting both public and private schools, it is interesting to see how the nation’s public schools are adopting a more private and, in some cases, Catholic school approach to education: Educating the whole person and “classical” education with a strong emphasis on character development. Overall, though, today’s schools are asked to assume a lot more responsibility than in the past; and a Salesian school like St. John Bosco, in return, asks a lot of all its stakeholders—students, parents, faculty, staff, coaches, etc. A Salesian school does more than just teach “the basics” of “book learning” and athletic skills; A Salesian School is charged with the development of faith, character, civic virtue and artistic talent. We can do this, but we can only be successful at it if we do it together—a mantra many public schools are adopting. But we already know this; Salesian schools have been doing this for over 100 years.
