The course is designed as an interdisciplinary study of two genres, film and literature, with particular emphasis on novels made into films and on the aesthetic distinction of both forms of major genres in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. The film and literature are supplemented with novels, plays, and radio dramas. The course spends the first quarter studying the history of film and films made from literature, while the last quarter will focus on contemporary literature, film and film/television scripts.
