0846 Arts & Culture 9 CSU, UC
This year long course is intended to teach the basic principles and practices of the arts-painting, sculpture, music, theater, cinema, dance, and literature-of Western and other cultures, with emphasis placed on the recognition, analysis, and application of these principles and practices. This class exposes students to the arts in a multi-disciplinary manner, and approaches the arts from a world viewpoint. Consequently, it is an interdisciplinary course designed as an introduction to the humanities for students with limited experience in the arts with the idea that students will pursue specialized areas of interest, within the VAPA curriculum, in their sophomore through senior years. (Prereq: None)
