0505 Spanish I for Heritage Speakers 9, 10, 11, 12 CSU, UC
A year course designed to fulfill the needs of home speakers of Spanish. The course builds upon the knowledge, skills and experiences students bring to the Spanish classroom. Attention is given to the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students are given ample opportunities to express themselves in speech and writing. (Prereq: Spanish is the student's "primary" home language. Students who hear Spanish at home but speak English to parents and others are typically limited to a receptive command of Spanish and are not considered native speakers but may take a placement test to assess their skills.)
