This
year’s school theme is “One Brave Family…One Bold
Commitment.” As we focus on this family commitment, it is important
to remember that we all need to work together to achieve our vision
of unity and brotherhood. Some people are strong academically, some
people are good in sports, some people have a good sense of faith/direction,
some people are very nurturing—these qualities, and many more,
are important to find our way. Yet these qualities are rarely found
in only one person and that is where the ideal of one family and one
commitment plays an indispensable role. Each one of us has a special
gift that nobody else has and all these gifts are needed to see our
goal clearly. If we are able to work together—students, parents,
faculty, staff, and administration—animated by the spirit of the
Salesians of Don Bosco, we will surely reach our destination of achieving
our potential by serving the Lord.
I will continue this discussion in our first newsletter
of the year; now on to 2003-2004 school business. Enclosed in this mailing
you will find a locator slip. It is very important for you to bring
this locator with you on the first day of school because it has all
your room assignments on it. This preliminary locator will guide you
to your classrooms—an updated version will be distributed to you
during your first day and that one will have your teachers’ names
on it. Course changes will take place on August 18. [next
